Sourcing the perfect diamonds and gemstones
Precious gemstones and diamonds are sourced from the world’s premier mining and cutting centres together with rare Argyle Pink, Chocolate and Excellent Cut Canadian and Russian Diamonds. All diamonds are guaranteed conflict-free. Daniel hand-selects the finest diamonds and gemstones through a trusted network of suppliers, ensuring they are natural, not treated, and of the highest quality to meet the client’s budget. Our diamonds are conflict-free, all-natural, and have never been drilled, fracture-filled, or otherwise enhanced for colour or clarity.
We only use quality gemstones and premium Australian Refined metals sourced from ethical sources. All of the natural diamonds that we supply comply with the Kimberly Process and System of Warranties mandated by the World Diamond Council and the United Nations. Under this process only legally sourced diamonds can be imported into the country. The System of Warranties provides assurances that polished diamonds and jewellery are legitimately traded.
Why are some diamonds not traceable or does not provide their country of origin?
Blood diamonds and child labour scandals have affected the jewellery industry and its reputation and therefore it should be the responsibility of every Jeweller to stop such behaviors from happening by ensuring that they only affiliate with businesses that comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. At D&D Designer Jewellers sustainability and ethical processes are very important therefore Daniel and Doreen ensure that their diamonds are traceable and/or conflict-free. D&D Designer Jewellers only affiliate with suppliers who adhere to the strict Kimberley Process Certification Scheme which helps to ensure that only diamonds mined in accordance with regulatory measures end up in their custom-made jewellery or diamond sourced and sold by them. However, some diamonds, especially smaller diamonds cannot always be traced to identify their country of origin which also includes some GIA-certified diamonds as well. Polished diamonds requires GIA to assess the diamond in its rough form first which isn’t applicable to diamonds that were mined, cut, and polished before the diamond traceability program began. However, this should not cause concern because the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme helps to ensure that only diamonds mined in accordance with these regulatory measures are sold to customers as stated earlier in case a diamond is not traceable to its country of origin.
